So, your nonprofit set up a Facebook account because you heard that there are people out there eager to promote your organization to their friends. Plus, somebody told you that Facebook Causes will bring in money for your nonprofit.
Sounds like a good decision to me. But….
Remember that social media is just a tool to build relationships with individuals who make philanthropic decisions.
Social media is just another vehicle to consider – alongside direct mail, telephone calls, personal notes, and face-to-face meetings.
So, if your organization is struggling to raise money from individuals, social media is not a quick fix for you. Successful social media fundraising campaigns require substantive interactions to build relationships with individuals.
Successful fundraising requires time and effort – even on social media.
