Myth #3: Networking happens at planned business networking events.
Sure, hosted events are perfect opportunities to meet and greet.
But don’t forget about other opportunities that are sitting right under your nose!
Each and every day, you have plenty of chances to build relationships with other professionals. You just have to start paying attention to your surroundings.
Don’t overlook these opportunities:
- Are you familiar with everyone that you serve on that volunteer committee with?
- Do you introduce yourself to others at volunteer service days?
- Are you friendly while standing in line at public places?
*I can’t go anywhere without running into someone I know or making a new contact. It’s just become a regular part of my routine.
So, instead of ignoring the person standing by you at the cashier’s line, try saying hi. Why not?
