Myth #10: Networking requires superficial follow-up.
Sure, follow-up can feel a little forced.
But it can become quite natural!
Take time to keep up with people, organizations, and communities that you have relationships with.
Try these ideas:
- Forward an interesting news article with an “I thought of you…” note
- Call about an upcoming event with a “Will I see you there?” question
- Respond to positive industry news with a “Congrats!” message
*These types of email messages are fun to send and receive.
So, find substantive ways to follow-up with contacts.
