This afternoon, I attended the AFP Collegiate Chapter call-out meeting.  Students from the Center on Philanthropy, School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and any IUPUI school were invited.

I am excited because this student group is a part of a professional membership organization.  This is a great stepping stone.  When I graduate in May, I will be looking to join groups like the Indiana Chapter of AFP, Association of Fundraising Professionals.  They offer great opportunities to network, gain knowledge, and improve professional skills.

For the collegiate chapter, we plan to invite fundraising professionals to give us a greater sense of the daily experience.  Specifically, we are interested in the different responsibilities, challenges, and joys of:  small shop versus large development team; annual fund versus major gifts versus planned giving; higher education versus health versus fraternal organizations versus human services.

Look forward to future posts about the activities of the IUPUI collegiate chapter of AFP.
