I just read Simon Sinek’s blog post, Good Marketing vs. Bad Marketing.
His comparison of good and bad marketing strategies is directly applicable to fundraising efforts.
Successful fundraising is all about shared values, story telling, building long-term relationships, and empowering individuals!
It’s not about the organization and its list of programs or products. It’s about giving people an opportunity to make the world a better place!
Are you inspiring individuals? Or, are you shouting at a crowd?
Double-check your fundraising appeals. Be sure to:
- Say “you” more than “we”
- Highlight stories over statistics
- Offer a solution – not just a social problem
How else can you distinguish good fundraising from bad fundraising? Please leave a comment with your perspective!
