Too often we become territorial and isolated in nonprofit organizations.  We hesitate to work with other nonprofits, other public serving agencies, or private entities.  These lost opportunities for collaborations, partnerships, and service coordination equate to unreached potential for our communities!

There are groups, however, that choose to work together!  I am pleased to announce a fundraising collaboration that is sure to be a success.  Sponsoring agencies include:  the Indiana Pacers, Lawrence Township Firefighters, Lawrence Township Schools, and New Haven Missionary Baptist Church.

The fundraiser is a charity basketball game – Sunday January 17, 2010 at 3 p.m.  Doors open at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Central High School (7300 East 56th Street, 46226).

It is sure to be fun!  The basketball teams are made up of local celebrities.  The half-time show includes New Haven‘s mass choir and dance ministry, “2 Hype 4 Christ.”  Children will also enjoy visits with Sparky the Fire Dog, Build-a-Bear Mascot, and Pacers Boomer.

The $10 donation ticket benefits an Indianapolis family in need.  The Wilson Family suffered a serious apartment fire on July 28, 2009.  The disaster left them without any material posessions and without the life of their beautiful five-year-old daughter, Annesha Wilson.

Out of tragedy, the family and the community have worked together to create some positive.  I am looking forward to supporting the Wilson Family.  I hope to see you at the game!

If you are unable to attend but would still like to help, stop by any Fifth Third Bank and make a donation to the Annesha Wilson Memorial Fund.
